

Cowal Community Energy Members
Cowal Community Energy is currently made up of eight Development Trusts from across the Cowal Peninsula.
Membership is open to any incorporated Development Trust in Cowal, on the basis of there being one Development Trust in respect of each community council area with that Development Trust having a wide remit for its area. Development Trusts In Cowal are working together to secure a greener, fairer, more prosperous and financially resilient future for our communities.
Benmore and Kilmun Community Development Trust
Supports community-benefit projects across the villages of Blairmore, Strone, Kilmun, Glen Massan, Clachaig, and Rashfield.

Works with the ColGlen community to support projects that improve access to services, amenities, and sustainability while preserving the area's safety, tranquillity, and community spirit.

Established in 2021. Dunoon Community Development Trust, on a mission to Inform, Involve & Inspire.

The Trust connects people, ideas, and resources to improve quality of life and leading the development of a Local Place Plan for Dunoon & Kirn.

Lochgoil Community Trust
Formed in order to benefit the communities of the Loch Goil area, the charity is responsible for the distribution of community benefit funds for local community development and continually seek additional sources of income for the community​​

South Cowal Trust
Formed in 2025, South Cowal Trust main aims are to ensure the area’s sustainable development, poverty relief, environmental protection and community development.
Strachur & District Community Development Company
Formed in 2002, the organisation aims is to bring together local authorities, organisations, and residents of Strachur and District to develop education projects, recreation, and community facilities.

Tighnabruaich District Development Trust

The trust is here to support projects that benefit the Tighnabruaich district community (This covers the Cowal peninsula including Kilfinan, Otter Ferry, Ardlamont, Portavadie and Kames )

Mentor - Point and Sandwick Trust
Based in the Outer Hebrides, Point and Sandwick Trust has volunteered to be a 'mentor organisation' to CCE with Calum MacDonald of the Trust serving as a co-opted Non Executive Director on the CCE board.
​
The Trust built and operates the UK’s biggest community wind farm and has been recognised as leading the way in community renewable energy. Funding projects of all sizes, the Trust provides significant support within the crofting communities of Point and Sandwick on the Isle of Lewis, and the wider Western Isles.
